Ligue 1 Asian Handicap Betting Preview – Friday 3rd April

Monaco v St Etienne – Stade Louis II at 19:30 live on BT Sport 2

There’s just one point separating Monaco and St Etienne in Ligue 1 as both sides continue to chase for one of three Champions League places. Monaco are currently in 4th with a game in hand and can narrow the gap with Marseille in 3rd to a point with 8 games to go. St Etienne can’t really afford to lose if they are to be in with a chance of the 3rd and final UCL spot.

Monaco head in to this match unbeaten in their last 10 matches at Stade Louis II and haven’t conceded a single goal in their last 7 games at home. They continue to maintain an average of just 0.5 goals conceded per game in front of their own fans, a very impressive record.

Les Rouges et Blancs still lack goals though, scoring an average of just 1.07 goals per game at home which goes some way to explain why they have only won 6 of their 14 matches on their own turf this season. They have accumulated more points on the road but still remain a very tough side to beat at home with only 2 losses this campaign.

St Etienne head into this one in good form having won their last 3 league games on the spin, scoring 7, conceding twice. They have the second best away record in the league behind Monaco, W6 D5 L4, from their 15 matches on the road this season.

Similar to Monaco, Les Verts keep it very tight at the back, conceding an average of 0.8 goals per game so far this season. Another similarity is that they don’t score many either, although they have scored 7 in their last 3 outings, they manage less than a goal a game away from home. Unless there is some sort of miracle, this is going to be a very low scoring, tight match, Under 1.5 goals might be worth a punt at 2.56.

The draw is predictably short and will more than likely be backed in even more. Monaco are priced at 2.0, but St Etienne are a huge 4.86, very generous for a side with the second best away record in the league. With Monaco’s water tight defence and record at Stade Louis II, it’s hard to see an away win though, but +0.5 on the Asian Handicap market at 1.96, St Etienne to nick a 1-0 or hold Monaco to a draw, this begs us to get involved.

Asian Handicap Recommendation: St Etienne +0.5 @ 1.96
