Leicester City v Man Utd – Wembley Stadium at 16:00 live on BT Sport 2

The annual curtain-raiser for the return of Premier League football takes place this weekend as Leiceter City face Man Utd in the Community Shield on Sunday at Wembley Stadium.

It’s a match sure to be of great interest to both Foxes fans after their surprise title winning season, United fans, full of confidence after Jose Mourinho’s appointment and to neutrals who have been missing top level domestic football. And of course after the disappointment in France.

With a lot of interest in many of his players this Summer having dominated the league last season, Claudio Ranieri has somewhat surprisingly kept hold of most of his squad for the upcoming season. With the exception of N’golo Kante, who moved to Chelsea, the likes of Vardy, Mahrez and captain Wes Morgan will all start their title defence next week.

Ranieri has also made some big additions to his squad, signing Nampalys Mendy, who replaces Kante, two centre halves in Luis Hernandez and Raul Uche as well as winger Bartosz Kapustka and striker Ahmed Musa. There is certainly a statement of intent their from the champions as they look to start this season as they finished the last.

Leicester’s pre-season preparations has seen them defeat Oxford Utd 2-1 before participating in the International Champions Cup. They opened the tournament with a 1-1 draw with Celtic, going on to defeat them on penalties. They were then humbled by French champions PSG 4-0 but put up a better fight against Spanish giants Barcelona, losing 4-2, new signing Ahmed Musa with a brace. It’s been a tough pre-season but no doubt a valuable one for the Foxes and one that will stand the in good stead this Sunday.

There have been a lot of changes at United as well this Summer, most notably the departure of Louis Van Gaal and the appointment of Jose Mourinho. It was one of the worst kept secrets in Football, with many people knowing what was happening months before the end of last season. Now that it’s done, United can move on and try and improve on the past few disappointing seasons.

Mourinho has already been busy in the transfer market, signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Eric Bailly and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, with arguably the biggest and best yet to come.

The biggest transfer story of the Summer is Paul Pogba’s future and it is widely expected he will move from Juventus to Man Utd for in the regions of €100M. These big signings and with Jose at the helm, it’s no wonder that a lot is expected of United this season.

It’s been a mixed Summer on the pitch however, with wins against Wigan and Galatasaray but a 4-1 defeat to Dortmund, as well as a cancelled match against rivals City. Mourinho has stated though that he his not bothered about the results in friendlies and his side will be ready for the start of the campaign.

The Red Devils come into this match as 1.85 favourites which I think is a little short looking at both sides results this Summer. Leicester City are much better value on the Asian Handicap betting market +0.5 at 2.07

I also think there is some value on the goals market with Over 2.5 very backable at 2.06 considering there have been plenty of goals in both sides recent matches.

Asian Handicap Betting Recommendation: Leicester City +0.5 at 2.07 & Over 2.5 goals at 2.06
