Barcelona V Real Madrid – Camp Nou at 20:00 live on Sky Sports 1
The big one that football fans and Asian Handicap punters around the world have been waiting for, El Clasico is finally upon us this Sunday evening. Current league leaders Barcelona host bitter rivals Real Madrid at the Camp Nou, looking to reverse the result from the first meeting of Spain’s big two back in October.
Despite taking an early lead in the Bernabeu, Barcelona were powerless to stop an in-form Real Madrid sweeping them aside in a comfortable 3-1 victory which left Luis Enrique searching for a way to get the best out of his new and expensively assembled strike force.
However, the young manager soon discovered the key to unlocking the potential of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez as a three pronged attack and since then Barca have been on an astonishing run of form.
They have racked up an incredible 27 wins from 30 games which has seen them steam to the top of the La Liga table, ease into the Copa Del Rey Final and cruise into the Champions League Quarter-Final’s.
This team is well on course for an amazing treble trophy haul in 2015 and although their style has developed from the days of Pep Guardiola’s reign, they seem every bit as unstoppable. What can Carlo Ancelotti and his Real Madrid side do to slow the Catalan’s down?
Playing Barcelona when you are in top form is usually not enough to slow them down but Real Madrid take the trip to Barcelona in perhaps their worst form of the season so far.
With a current record of P10 W6 D1 L3 and sitting one point behind Barcelona, Los Blancos will be desperate to reverse their form and regain pole position in the title race tonight. Especially as the match is being played in the Camp Nou, but having lost on four of their last eight road trips they need a serious improvement in form to do so.
El Clasico is usually a feisty, incident and goal packed affair which thrills fans all over the world from start to finish and there’s every reason to believe these trends will continue on Sunday night. The previous 17 meetings between the two have all seen both teams score and 15 of those games ended with Over 2.5 Goals.
In fact nine of them ended with Over 3.5 Goals and perhaps somewhat surprisingly most bookies have priced up Over 3.5 Goals at even money. Based on our tissue this looks like a huge price and it’s definitely one not to be missed this weekend.
Both teams come into the match without any new injury worries but Real Madrid have really missed the industry and control that Luka Modric brings to their midfield, hopefully the diminutive Croat will start tonight. This should help Carlo Ancelotti find a way of nullifying Barcelona’s front three, while still enabling his team to express themselves in attack as well.
This should be an intense and absorbing match for all concerned but based on their current scintillating form and home field advantage it is hard to see Barcelona losing against an out of sorts Real Madrid side this evening. The Asian Handicap line of -1 looks a little excessive but with a draw looking like the worst possible result for Blaugrana we are happy to back Messi, Neymar and Suarez to punish the suspect Real Madrid rear guard.
Asian Handicap Recommendation: Barcelona -1 at 2.24
