Juventus v Lazio – Stadio Olimpico at 19:45 live on Sky Sports 5
Having won their fourth league title in a row, the Old Lady now play their first of two finals over the next fortnight as they look to win the treble. Tonight they face Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico in the Coppa Italia final and are favourites to lift the trophy at a best price of 1.65. This should be a really competitive match and one for Asian Handicap betting punters to get stuck into.
No club has won more Coppa Italia’s than Juventus, winning it 9 times, but you have to go back to 1995 to find the last time their name was engraved onto the trophy. In the last 20 years they have made it to 5 finals, but without success, most recently in 2012 when they lost to Napoli 2-0.
In contrast, Lazio have won the trophy 5 times in the last 17 years, with their last success just 2 years ago when they defeated tonight’s opponents in the semi finals. In fact, the Biancocelesti have not lost to Juve in the Coppa Italia in their last 6 meetings, W4 D2 and have the advantage of playing at their home ground this evening.
Lazio are also enjoying a successful league campaign, currently in 3rd place, 3 points in front of Napoli in 3rd and just a point behind Roma in 2nd. They face both Roma and Napoli in their last 2 games so a Champions League spot is not yet guaranteed but it’s in their hands. Winning the Coppa Italia would surely fill them with confidence going into the Derby della Capitale next Monday, helping them to secure UCL football next season. Not wining any of their 4 matches against top 4 sides this season may be a concern though.
Juve are going to be very hard to defeat this evening and the 2.35 quoted to win looks like a great bit of value. Their head to head record in the Cup against Lazio is poor but their Serie A record is outstanding, not losing in 21, W15 D6, including 2 wins this season, a 3-0 at the Stadio Olimpico in November and last months 2-0 home win.
The Champions League finalists are in excellent form this season, winning 62% of their games in all competitions and they are a better side than Lazio who come into the match having won just 2 of their last 6 matches. Maxi Allegri will be without Morata and Marchisio due to suspension but they have a strong squad and are tactically very sound.
The Bianconeri are even money -0.25 on the Asian Handicap betting market which is a very good price but I’m confident that they can win in 90 minutes and go into their UCL final with Barcelona with the treble still on.
Asian Handicap Betting Recommendation: Juventus -0.5 @ 2.35
