Juventus v AC Milan – 16th January Wednesday

Old foes Juventus FC and AC Milan will be facing on Wednesday at King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah to continue one of the most anticipated derbies in Italian football.

Juventus is invincible among Italian football clubs, being unbeaten in all of their 19 games in the Italian Serie A. Their only worst finish in a match were two draws, the latest of which is a 2-2 with Atalanta last month. Even before the previous month ended, they also bagged a 2-1 win over Sampdoria.

Not even Napoli had equalized with Juventus as they also fell to the Old Lady in a 3-1 thrashing. Inter also fell to Juventus 1-0, and even AS Roma with another 1-0.

Milan, on the other hand, are fifth in the Serie A table with eight wins and four losses. Rossoneri only made one win out of their last five matches when they scored a 2-1 victory over SPAL at the latter part of the previous month.

Milan’s last defeat was a 0-1 fall to Fiorentina which revealed vulnerability on the part of the Rossoneri.

The other three in Milan’s last five games are goalless draws, the most recent of which is with Frosinone. They also had draws with Bologna and Torino earlier in the previous month.

– Juventus’ João Cancelo, Medhi Benatia, and Daniele Rugani will miss the game due to injuries.

– Gonzalo Higuaín is expected to play in the match on Wednesday despite being only loaned to AC Milan from Juventus

– Massimiliano Allegri is expected to strengthen defense by using three of his four available defenders in the field.

– Suso (Jesús Joaquín Fernández Sáenz de la Torre) of Milan is suspended and will not have an appearance on Wednesday.

– Douglas Costa might take the left flank after Juventus’ Mario Mandzukic is ruled out due to an injury.

– After making a successful debut in the Coppa Italia against Sampdoria, Lucas Paquetá is expected to join Milan’s starting XI.

Juventus: 4-3-3
Wojciech Szczesny, Alex Sandro, Giorgio Chiellini, Leonardo Bonucci, Mattia De Sciglio, Blaise Matuidi, Miralem Pjanic, Rodrigo Bentancur, Douglas Costa, Cristiano Ronaldo, Paulo Dybala

AC Milan: 4-4-2
Gonzalo Higuaín, Patrick Cutrone, Hakan Calhanoglu, Franck Kessié, Tiemoué Bakayoko, Lucas Paquetá, Davide Calabria, Cristián Zapata, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Alessio Romagnoli, Ricardo Rodríguez

Cristiano Ronaldo’s transfer to Juventus from Real Madrid at the middle of the previous year meant further invincibility to the Old Lady’s shield. Ronaldo currently made 15 goals in his 25 appearances is the top scorer of Juventus and the whole league itself.

Paulo Dybala will be the second top scorer of Juventus after Ronaldo with Mandzukic ruled out due to an injury. Dybala already scored 7 goals out of his 23 appearances for the Old Lady.

AC Milan
Patrick Cutrone is Milan’s top scorer with nine goals made out of his 23 appearances for the Rossoneri. He had three goals in the team’s Serie A games, four in their Europa League campaign, and two in the Coppa Italia.

Gonzalo Higuaín will be made use by Milan and will be their second top gun after being loaned from Juventus and will continue to be so until June this year. He already made eight goals in his 21 appearances.

Juventus 2-0 AC Milan

If not with Milan’s good standing in the Serie A at fifth, it will be reasonable to say that they will end up being thrashed to the worst level by the Old Lady. Juventus have been undefeated since the new league season had started and there is no reason to believe that they will break this unbeaten run this time. With Suso expected to be out of the Wednesday action, Milan’s goal scoring chances are expected to be significantly weaker.
