Hull v Liverpool – KC Stadium at 19:45
Asian handicap punters are looking forward to an exciting climax to the race for a top four place thanks to Manchester United losing their last two games in row. This has given Liverpool the opportunity to close the gap on their long term rivals to just four points with four games to play.
Meanwhile, Steve Bruce’s Hull managed to scramble away from Selhurst Park with a win on Saturday that keeps their heads above water in the relegation battle. But with only 31 points on the board, this game in hand tomorrow night is crucial to their chances of maintaining top flight status for another year.
The 2-0 win by Hull at Crystal Palace was their first win in seven league games and would have been a huge relief to all concerned with the club, as their remaining fixtures do not offer much hope for picking up many more points.
Despite tonight’s game being the first of a run of three home games in a row, Bruce can only realistically target the last of those, against Burnley as one in which his side could secure another three points in their battle against the drop.
After Liverpool tonight then Arsenal at the KC next week, plus Tottenham and Manchester United to finish their season off, the Burnley game looks like do or die for Hull. So, any points they can snatch off of the big teams would be a massive bonus and could well be the difference between safety and relegation.
Brendan Rodgers is doing his best to play down Liverpool’s chances of finishing in the top four and to be honest their draw against West Brom at the weekend was a big blow to their Champions League hopes. They really can’t afford to drop any more more points this season if they are to have any chance of overhauling United in fourth place.
The Reds were unlucky not be beat West Brom on Saturday after dominating the game in all areas but they just couldn’t find the finishing touch. That has to be a worry for Rodgers, especially with Daniel Sturridge still out with injury, but Liverpool have been excellent away at teams involved with the relegation battle.
They have beaten Aston Villa, Leicester, Sunderland, QPR and Burnley on the road this year and should be confident of picking up all three points on Tuesday night. Hull will certainly be playing as if they have nothing to lose because nobody is expecting them to trouble their Merseyside visitors. In fact Hull have not taken a single point off any of the other top eight teams when they played at the KC this season.
Despite not taking points off the big teams, they have scored a few goals along the way. They lost 3-2 to Chelsea, 4-2 to Manchester City and by just one goal against Tottenham, Southampton and Swansea. Unfortunately, the Asian handicap betting line is set at 0.5 here and it is hard to see how Hull can even manage a draw without a huge slice of luck.
But, there is no real value in backing Liverpool at the prices and as mentioned they have got some issues with scoring goals at the moment, they have not scored more than two in any of their last eight games. Furthermore, Hull will surely set up to frustrate their more polished opponents and look to sneak a goal on the break or from a set piece, but clearly a 0-0 draw would be a fantastic bonus point for the Tigers.
This could lead to a tight and low scoring game which, is where we can back a value price on the Under 2.5 Goals market. Fifty percent of Liverpool’s away games ended with under 2.5 goals and sixty percent of Hull’s home matches, also finished with no more than two goals. With so much at stake for both teams, we should see a tidy profit from this bet tonight.
Asian Handicap Betting Recommendation: Under 2.5 Goals at 2.05
