Guingamp v Lyon – Stade du Roudourou at 20:00 (UTC/GMT)
Guingamp will be hosting Olympique Lyonnais on Thursday, hoping to stun the French top-tier third placers in the Coup de France.
Les Costamoricains celebrated a victory against Monaco in the French League Cup. However, they had been defeated in their last three games in the French Ligue 1. They lost 0-1 to Reims last month, and also got thrashed by Paris-Saint-Germain 9-0. Guingamp also lost 0-1 to Saint-Etienne earlier in the previous month.
In their Coupe de la Ligue campaign, Guingamp are unbeaten though, bragging a win over PSG 1-2. They also have victories over OGC Nice 1-3 and SCO Angers 3-2.
Guingamp are unbeaten as well so far in their Coupe de France campaign with wins over AS Nancy 1-2 and Stade Pontivyen 2-4 from the previous month.
Les Costamoricains are bottom of the French top-tier, while their upcoming Thursday rivals are third to the top of the Ligue 1. Guingamp, nonetheless, have been known to beat the likes of Rennes back in last January.
Les Gones, on the other hand, sparked a powerful momentum after defeating a seemingly invincible Paris Saint-Germain last Wednesday. The 2-1 Lyon win gave the Parisians their first Ligue 1 defeat for the current season.
Lyon are unbeaten in their last seven games in the French top-tier with a win over Saint-Etienne 1-2 and draws shared with Reims, Montpelier, and Toulouse. Les Gones also beat SC Amiens 0-1 and Monaco 3-0.
Amine Gouiri is out for Lyon’s game with Guingamp on Thursday after suffering from a cruciate ligament rupture.
Employment of the formation 4-2-3-1 by team manager Bruno Genesio went effective in Lyon’s 2-1 victory over reigning Paris Saint-Germain last Monday.
Papy Djilobodji joined Guingamp earlier in the previous month and appeared in Las Costamoricains’ match with Reims two weeks ago.
Alexandre Mendy is currently on loan to Guingamp from FC Girondins.

He already scored seven goals and an assist in his performance in the recent Ligue 1 season out of his 18 appearances. He also appeared twice in the Coupe de France and scored a goal twice as well. He also scored twice in the Coupe de la Ligue out of his two appearances.

Guingamp 2-4 Lyon
Les Gones scored a 2-4 victory over Les Costamoricains last November in their Ligue 1 clash and it is most likely that the Thursday game will conclude in a similar fashion. Lyon are unstoppable while their 2-1 win over reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain is still fresh and will be boosting their energy for the following couple of days. Guingamp, however, are not as powerless as one would think about a bottom team, considering their 1-2 victory over the same Parisians not long ago, but just a month ago.
