MOST BRUTAL VICTORIES IN THE 2018/19 FA CUP
Sometimes, it makes you think how an English second-tier team ends up facing one of the top teams in the Premier League. But that is what exactly is happening in the English FA Cup, where second and third tier teams in English domestic football are getting the chance to face even the topmost teams of the internationally known Premier League. Some of these matches end up in merciless trashing of teams by the squads of the English primary division.
Here are by far the most brutal wins in the 2018/19 season of the FA Cup.:
Tranmere 0-7 Tottenham
In the Third Round of the FA Cup, the much more familiar team Tottenham faced the Tranmere Rovers at Prenton Park last Friday. Tranmere were not ready to face the most excellent players of the Premier League in the likes of Fernando Llorente, Harry Kane, Serge Aurier, and Son Heung-min of the Hotspurs.
Llorente scored a hat-trick in that game after Aurier made the opening goal. Son further added in the Spurs’ score. Team manager Mauricio Pochettino really wanted to be brutal in that match, especially when he let Tottenham’s top scorer Harry Kane do the honor of finishing the merciless thrashing on Tranmere.
Man City 7-0 Rotherham
Rotherham’s Sunday match ended in a humiliating disaster as they got thrashed by the Premier League’s second to the top team Manchester City. Young gun Phil Foden scored in that match after Raheem Sterling made the opening score. The match ended up in a 7-0 Man City win.
Doncaster 7-0 Chorley
Merciless trashing could also be done by third-tier football clubs as shown by the Doncaster Rovers during the First Round of the FA Cup in November last year.
Alfie May scored a hat-trick in that match, sealing the lead for Doncaster. The seal did not betrayed them as Doncaster emerged as victors 7-0 over Chorley.
Billericay Town 9-1 Whitehawk
October was a memorable month for Whitehawk as they got hammered 9-1 by Billericay Town in the qualifying round of the FA Cup.
Billericay defender Joseph Kizzi made the opening goal in that match followed by another one from Jake Robinson. Ade Shokunbi and Sam Deering made the third and fourth goal for Billericay respectively. Moses Emmanuel added two goals for Billericay to end the first half.
Emmanuel further made his third goal of the match at the second quarter, followed by another goal from Robinson. Alfie Potter made the ninth goal.
Whitehawk tried to follow up a goal before the game ends. They did scored a goal which became the last score of the match.
Anstey Nomads 1-7 Mickleover Sports
Probably one of the most remarkable matches in the qualifying round happened in the second when the Mickleover Sports made seven points to top the Anstey Nomads’ one point last September.
The conclusion was surprising as the Anstey Nomads and Mickleover Sports almost have the same form, with the former having three wins, one draw, and one loss while the latter has four wins and one loss.
