Blackburn v Liverpool – Ewood Park at 19:45 live on BT Sport 1

Blackburn host Liverpool tonight in this FA Cup quarter final replay after the first match at Anfield ended in a 0-0 draw. We recommended Blackburn +1.75 on the Asian Handicap market that day and it returned a nice profit.

Liverpool will have to play a lot better tonight if they are to reach the semi finals though as Blackburn soaked up the pressure and hit the Reds on the counter attack in the first match. Liverpool had their chances but with only 4 shots from 22 on target, it wasn’t going to be their day.

Rovers have already defeated Swansea and Stoke in this years competition and will look to make it a hat-trick of Premier League scalps in the replay. Gary Bowyer may see it as a good time to play the Reds as their confidence must be low after losing 2 league matches in a row to Man Utd and Arsenal which looks to have ended their top 4 aspirations. Brendan Rodgers’ side comes into this match in very different form from the first one when they had won 7 from their last 8 Premier League games.

After losing back to back league games, Blackburn registered a 3-0 win away to Leeds on Saturday which will put them in buoyant mood for this evening. They do have some injury concerns however, with Rudy Gestede, Chris Brown, Josh King and Craig Conway all facing late fitness tests. They have struggled with injuries of late, something which their transfer embargo for breaching Financial Fair Play rules must be partly to blame.

Liverpool will be without a number of key players also due to their poor discipline on the pitch with Steven Gerrard, Emre Can and Martin Skrtel all suspended. Mario Balotelli may also be a doubt after he ruled himself out before their 4-1 loss at the Emirates on Saturday.

Despite seemingly losing out on a quick return to the Champions League, Rodgers will be determined to bring some silverware back to Anfield. If they were to get knocked out tonight after losing to Chelsea in the league cup semi final, failing to get out their group in the UCL and not finishing in the top 4 in the league, it will have to go down as a very bad season for the Reds.

Liverpool are a far superior team than Blackburn and with a lot at stake, they can’t afford to be complacent. Similar to the first match, I think it will be an open game but with the Reds taking their chances this time to win comfortably.
