Goodison Park – Monday 15th December at 20:00 on Sky Sports 1
QPR travel to Merseyside on Monday evening after a 9 day rest, having not played since their 2-0 win over Burnley. They have kept themselves busy since then though with Christmas lunches, trips to hospital and miming to Slade’s Merry Christmas Everybody.
Everton go into this fixture having not had the best of starts to their season, currently sitting in 13th with one win in their last 6 league games. The Europa league seems to have taken its toll on their domestic campaign but now don’t play in Europe until February. The Toffee’s home record is woeful, winning just 2 games at Goodison all season but have averaged 1.86 goals per game at home. Everton make a lot of mistakes which has contributed to their inconsistent results, with more errors leading directly to goals than any other league side.
QPR have conceded 27 times so far, the most goals this season in the league with 17 of those conceded on the road. They have won 2 of their last 3, but those wins came against Burnley and Leicester, teams sitting in 17th and 20th. Those wins were helped by goals from QPR’s top goal scorer, Charlie Austin who is out suspended for tonight’s match. With only 4 other different league scorers in their side, it’s hard to see them getting anything tonight.
Although Everton’s record at home is poor, QPR’s away record is worse having not picked up a win away this season. Due to the Toffee’s goal scoring ability at home I’m going for a comfortable Everton win here. My recommendation is Everton -1.25 @ 2.0.
