Everton v Man City Asian Handicap Betting Preview – Sunday 23rd August

Everton v Man City – Goodison Park at 16:00 live on Sky Sports 1

Man City travel to Goodison Park this afternoon looking to make it 3 wins from 3 and it’s no surprise they trade at 1.80 favourites to do so. Everton won’t be a pushover though and will be full of confidence after last week’s impressive 3-0 win at St. Mary’s.

It’s hard to see Man City turning the Toffee’s over 3-0, just as they did to West Brom and Chelsea, but I don’t see the value in backing Everton +1 on the Asian Handicap betting market. The first couple of weeks of the Premier League has shown the underdogs have been profitable when backing them on the Asian Handicap, but I think City will have too much class and can cover -0.75 at 2.00.

The form would dissuade many from my recommendation however, as City’s record at Goodison Park has not been good to say the least, with just 2 wins in their 17 visits.

Last seasons corresponding fixture ended 1-1 which was the start of 4 league matches without a win for the Citizen’s. It was the beginning of the end of City’s title hopes as they slipped further behind Chelsea throughout January and February.

City have added to their squad, including latest signing Nicolas Otamendi who should help strengthen up their defence, which could be to blame for some of their poor results last term. Kompany and Mangala are expected to start and will have to contend with an inform Romelu Lukaku.

Goals are expected in this one with each of both sides first two league fixtures seeing 3 goals or more. Over 2.5 goals is priced at 1.74 but before you think about steaming into that, bear in mind in 6 of their last 8 meetings, there were 2 goals or fewer. Under 2.5 may be worth a punt at 2.29 if you fancy that trend to continue.

I can see why many people would like Everton +1 looking at City’s history  at Goodison, but this Man City side are looking very good. Yes, Everton come away with a fantastic result at St Mary’s but the Saints are no where near at the same standard as last term. Also, Everton had to work hard to earn a 2-2 draw at home to newly promoted Watford on the opening day of the season.

Asian Handicap Betting Recommendation: Man City -0.75 at 2.00
