Hampden Park – 13th November at 7.45pm

The Republic of Ireland have made a flying start in their bid to qualify for what would be their second European Championship in a row. If they do manage to qualify, they’ll be keen to improve on their enjoyable, yet ultimately unsuccessful campaign at Euro 2012, where they lost all three group games and went home early.

Their unbeaten start to qualifying should see Martin O’Neill’s men enter this home nations clash, full of confidence. Having already won away in Georgia and more recently drawn away against world champions Germany, a trip to Celtic Park to play Scotland won’t phase the green army.

Meanwhile their hosts Scotland, have also had a promising start in what is one of the toughest qualifying groups of all. They were narrowly beaten 2-1 by Germany in Dortmund and were unlucky not to take all three points in Warsaw, in a thrilling 2-2 draw against group leaders Poland. So, despite a slightly below par performance in their 1-0 home win against Georgia, the Tartan Army should be confident of getting a result on Friday night.

Both these sides boast numerous Premier League stars amongst their number and it looks like a hotly contested and potentially close match is in store for fans tonight. Scotland have been priced up around 2.30 due to their solid form and home field advantage, but that price seems a little short based on the Republic of Ireland’s current form. Taking that into account, the advised trade is to back Republic of Ireland +0.25 at 1.90 which results in a half win and half push if the game finishes as a draw.
