Eliteserien Asian Total Goals Match Previews – 1st December Sunday

Rosenborg v Ranheim

Both teams have plenty to fight for in this last match of the season. For Rosenborg, their prospects of finishing third now look very slim and a reliance on Odd losing at Haugesund is something that is required. RBK are 1.50 favourites to take care of business at home to local rivals Ranheim, but it could all be in vain. Ultimately, finishing fourth would be a failure for Eirik Horneland in his first season in charge at the Lerkendal Stadion. RBK have on paper one of the best squads in the league, a big budget. As far as I’m concerned there are no excuses. Most of the damage was done in the first third of the season, along with some disappointing away results in the second half of the campaign. Rosenborg have actually won 9 of their last 10 games in front of their own fans and generally fired in plenty of goals at this venue. A shocking lack of clean sheets, just 1 in 16 games is a really poor return and obviously been one of their major problems.

It looked like Ranheim were pretty much gone after losing to Mjondalen just before the international break. But they showed incredible fight to come from behind vs LSK in the previous round. That 2-1 victory means they are still in with a chance of survival, but MUST win this match otherwise the OBOSLigaen beckons. RIL have the 9th best away record in the league this season so all certainly isn’t lost. They would love too secure survival on the road vs their illustrious local rivals. RBK are -1 Asian Handicap favourites and will probably prevail, but would they lose heart if Odd are winning? I think this could be a really open match probably containing quite a few goals. A draw does neither team any good so at some stage either, or both will have to gamble. Rosenborg can’t keep clean sheets and Ranheim rarely manage any shutouts either.Just to make matters worse for RBK defenders Reginiussen & Hedenstad are both suspended, although the latter might be missed offensively. Over 3 goals is the obvious play in a match both teams have to win so that will be my selection.

Asian Total Goals Betting Recommendation: Over 3.00 goals at 1.850

Molde v Bodø/Glimt

The top two teams meet in the last match of the season here at the Aker Stadion. For Molde, it’s been a brilliant campaign and they have won the title fairly comfortably. They’ve won 20 out of 29 games and especially have a fine record in front of their own fans, possessing a 12-2-0 record. MFK have only conceded 8 goals at this stadium all year and that is more of an indication of how much they have controlled games. MFK aren’t known for their watertight defence but tend to monopolize possession and are often on the front foot. Perhaps the opposition have been guilty of giving them too much respect at times. Head coach Erling Moe rested a few of his players last week but it did them no harm winning 4-2 at Valerenga. Moe has constantly managed to keep this squad happy by giving playing minutes to a lot of different players. However, for this last match I would expect him to go full strength.

Bodø/Glimt still need a point to secure what would be a richly deserved second place. They have consistently defied the odds all season and performed brilliantly out there. Of course, Glimt have already beaten Molde this season, 3-2 back in the early stages of the campaign. For those who say Molde might lack for motivation here then I would throw that result back at your face. There is surely no way MFK would want to be beaten twice by anyone in this title winning season surely? Both teams are known for their strong attacking abilities this year and I expect nothing different here. It should be an open encounter in which both have a proper good go at trying to outscore each other. Molde are generously priced in between -0.5 and -0.25 Asian Handicap but the bet I prefer is over 3.25 goals. The pressure is off in many respects with Molde having won the title and Glimt having secured European football. The hosts will be missing striker Ohi Omoijuanfo to suspension but Leke James should come back into the side and he is arguably more clinical. I don’t know who will win the encounter but this should be an entertaining affair.

Asian Total Goals Betting Recommendation: Over 3.25 goals at 1.880
