Everton v Sunderland
Sunday’s 4-0 loss to Manchester United made it seven games without a win for Ronald Koeman’s Everton side – that win coming against Hajduk Split into the Europa League qualifying rounds. It’s been a dismal run and many will soon start to question the investments that Everton made in the summer.
Koeman will be hoping his side can step up against Championship side Sunderland and could give some fringe players a chance to prove themselves in this EFL Cup clash.
It’s been an equally difficult start to the season for Simon Grayson, with his Sunderland side sitting in 21st in the Championship table. A 3-0 loss to Barnsley has been the low-point for Grayson’s side, but the 1-1 draw against recently relegated Hull City last weekend will have given him hope.
This could be a really poor game, with both sides struggling to find any sort of form or rhythm this season. If Everton can find their feet, though, it could be the springboard they need to kickstart their season.
Asian Handicap Betting Recommendation: Everton -2.00 at 2.700
West Brom v Man City
Last week saw Manchester City play 3 games, win 3 games and scored 15 goals. Watch out, West Brom.
Pep Guardiola has certainly got his Manchester City side firing on all cylinders. The forward pairing of Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Aguero are scoring goals for fun, whilst midfielder Kevin De Bruyne seems to be able to turn any pass into a goalscoring opportunity for his teammates.
It could be a long afternoon for Tony Pulis’ West Brom side. The Welshman has failed to guide his team to a win since the last EFL Cup round and it would take a miracle to pull off anything on Wednesday evening.
Asian Handicap Betting Recommendation: Manchester City -2.00 at 3.060
Arsenal v Doncaster
From the doom and gloom of a thumping at the hands of Liverpool to a sense of optimism at Arsenal. This week has seen them put three past Bournemouth, see off FC Koln in the Europa League and earn a respectable point at Chelsea.
In Doncaster, Arsene Wenger’s side faces a League One side struggling to find their form. Darren Ferguson’s men have failed to win any of their last five league games but showed in the last round of the EFL Cup that they can pull off a shock, putting Hull to the sword in a 2-0 win.
In this match, though, Arsenal should continue their fine form and see off the Dons. Whilst manager Darren Ferguson may ask his Dad for a few tips on how to get the best of Wenger – Sir Alex did so plenty of times – but the gulf in class should tell at the Emirates.
Asian Handicap Betting Recommendation: Arsenal -2.50 at 1.870
