Crotone v Sampdoria Asian Handicap Preview – Sunday 11th March

Crotone vs Sampdoria – Stadio Ezio Scida at 14:00

Crotone comes into this contest on a five-game winless run, winning just two of their last 15 Serie A fixtures.

The Sharks are deep in a relegation battle and sit two points adrift of safety. Results in recent weeks have been disappointing, losing out 3-2 in consecutive games against fellow strugglers Benevento and SPAL.

Sampdoria is still right within a fight for a European spot, and with AC Milan closing in, a win here is needed. They’re the division’s fourth-highest scorers and have scored in nine of their last 10 outings.

Il Doria has notched two or more goals in seven of 13 away days, and this indicates the attacking nature of Marco Giampaolo’s side. Veteran 35-year-old Fabio Quagliarella has rolled back the years this season, finding the net 17 times in the league.

Crotone outclassed

Although Crotone has been able to keep the score down when they’ve met sides currently in the top-seven, they’ve lost eight of nine without scoring.

They’ve been short of goals this campaign, and that’s been especially prevalent when facing the top sides. Only Sassuolo have scored fewer home goals than Sunday afternoon’s hosts.

To add further weight to this, top-scorer Ante Budimir is out injured. He’s scored six times in Serie A this season, which accounts for 26% of Crotone’s total goals.

Furthermore, midfielder Adrian Stolan is a doubt. He’s provided three assists this season, more than any other Crotone player, while the influential midfielder Marcus Rhoden remains sidelined.

The betting angle

Crotone did pick up a useful point away at Inter Milan last month, but that was when Inter were amidst a seven-game winless run in Serie A.

On the other hand, Sampdoria has lost just one of their last seven, winning away at Roma in that period.

The visitors have lost three of their last four on the road but it’s worth noting that two of those were by a single-goal margin at Napoli and Milan, while the other was at Benevento where the game was 1-1 before they were reduced to 10-men.

European-chasing Sampdoria should have enough in their armory to pick up a positive result on the road, making the 1.68 available on the guests off a scratch 0 start on the Asian Handicap market an appealing play.
