Chelsea v Bournemouth – Stamford Bridge at 17:30 live on Sky Sports 1
Chelsea look to be slowly building some momentum as they welcome Bournemouth to the Bridge this Saturday evening. The Blues are now unbeaten in 3 without conceding a goal as their defensive problems look to be improving.
The Cherries haven’t tasted victory in 8 league games and are 10.0 underdogs to come away with 3 points tomorrow.
Chelsea’s season so far has been awful, they were expected to retain the league but after 14 games they sit in 14th position. A top four finish is also looking unlikely unless they can turn their season around quickly.
Things are looking brighter for the Blues though, with just one loss in their last 5 matches in all competitions. A narrow 1-0 victory over Norwich was followed by a 4-0 win over Maccabi in the UCL before holding the Premier League’s form team, Tottenham last weekend to a 0-0 draw.
Morale has been low to say the least at the Bridge and last week’s draw with Spurs was certainly played for by Mourinho and should boost confidence. I’m expecting a more attacking Chelsea tomorrow and the return of striker Diego Costa having been dropped for the Spurs match.
Bournemouth sit in the relegation zone but showed some fight last weekend having gone 2 down to Everton to then nick a 96th minute equaliser to end the game 3-3. It was the opposite the week before having gone 2 up against Swansea to only walk away with a point.
The Cherries poor form and low league position has a lot do with their long injury list. They have a host of players out this weekend including key players Tommy Elphick and Callum Wilson who have been particularly missed.
They haven’t won away from home since August but have been finding the back of the net lately, scoring 7 in their last 6 league matches, including 5 in their last 3 outings. However, Chelsea held Tottenham last weekend to make it 3 clean sheets on the spin and I think Bournemouth will find it hard to breakdown an improved Blues defence.
Five of Chelsea’a last six matches have seen 3 goals or less and their last 3 have only seen 2 goals in total, making the Under 3 goals price of 1.82 a bit of value.
Chelsea are the clear favourites for this one at 1.40 and despite their bad start to the season, I see no reason why they shouldn’t win tomorrow. I’m expecting an attacking Chelsea side and I make them good value -1.25 on the Asian Handicap betting market at 1.91.
Asian Handicap Betting Recommendation: Chelsea -1.25 at 1.91 & Under 3 goals at 1.82
