Liverpool v Manchester City
Tuesday’s Champions League tie between Liverpool and Manchester City is the most exciting knockout round tie between two English clubs in recent years. Under Herr Klopp and Senor Guardiola, the two sides have produced some of Europe’s most exciting football this year.
In the Premier League, the two sides have produced thrilling matches. In September, the current league leaders swept the Reds aside with a 5-0 win, although their cause was aided by the red card for Sadio Mane, which means it wasn’t a true reflection of the two sides.
Liverpool got their revenge in January when they beat Guardiola’s men 4-3 at Anfield.
These are two quality sides led by two quality managers. They also feature the Premier League’s two best players; Mo Salah and Kevin De Bruyne. It’s incredibly hard to predict how this one will go, but I feel that Liverpool’s home advantage on a special European night at Anfield may help them in this one.

Barcelona v Roma
This tie is one of the mystery ones of the Quarter Finals, in that Barcelona should win on paper, but Roma has shown their quality this year in upsetting bigger sides.
In Serie A, Roma has had a solid season this year. They currently sit in third place, with qualification for the Champions League firmly in their hands.
For Barcelona, they are to add the Champions League to the La Liga title they’ve surely already secured. They currently sit nine points ahead of Atletico Madrid in second place, with arch-rivals Real Madrid a further four points behind.
Expect Lionel Messi to be back in the starting eleven for Barcelona, who showed their reliance on him in the match against Sevilla. It took the Argentine to come off the bench to salvage a point for Valverde’s men with minutes to spare. He has scored nine goals in the 13 occasions that he has come off the bench, so perhaps he is turning into a bit of a super sub!
This will be tight and Roma can cause upsets, so it’s worth backing them at the Camp Nou.
