Celta Vigo v Manchester United Asian Handicap Preview – Thursday 4th May

Celta Vigo v Manchester United – Estadio de Balaidos at 20:05 live BT Sport 2

The Europa League Semi Final first leg between Celta Vigo and Manchester United, is my Asian Handicap focus today.

Celta Vigo manager Eduardo Berizzo has his team fully focused on this competition as they sit 11th in La Liga, with nothing to play for.

Meanwhile, Jose Mourinho’s United are still in the hunt for a Top 4 finish and despite multiple injuries, they remain very hard to beat.

Celta Vigo…

Celta Vigo are not a very successful or well known Spanish club, but the current squad has a number of familiar names.

John Guidetti and Iago Aspas both play up front for Celta and they have ex-Manchester United striker Giuseppe Rossi on loan, but he is out injured.

Aspas in particular has flourished under Berizzo with 17 goals so far this term and he will be a major threat to United’s progress.

Celta are a decent home side as a draw here with Real Madrid and a victory over Barcelona can attest.

However, their form of late has really dropped off and with the second leg at Old Trafford, they will be desperate to establish a lead to defend next week.

Manchester United…

Jose Mourinho has done a quite brilliant job in his first season in charge at the world biggest club.

Despite a continuous and unprecedented stream of injuries, mainly to defenders, United have now gone 33 games undefeated in the Premier and Europa League competitions.

During these 33 matches, they have conceded just 16 goals which made them incredibly hard to beat.

Jose will undoubtedly be looking for another clean sheet in this first leg, away from home, but an away goal could prove vital and United have scored in 5 of 6 away Europa League games.

Asian Handicap Prices & Data…

The markets have this one very closely matched with United as the slight favourites at 2.65 to win the first leg.

The Asian Handicap line is set at +/-0 where the hosts can be backed at 2.08 and the visitors at 1.86.

The Asian Total Goals line is sitting at just 2 for this match, with Over at 1.77 and Under at 2.16.

United have scored early in a few of their Europa League games, but with the way Celta like to press they might need to weather some early pressure.

But, with Celta in poor form and goals looking hard to come by, I think there is great value in backing a low scoring first half.

Asian Handicap Recommendation: First Half Under 0.75 Goals at 2.06

Prices correct at time of writing.
