Celta Vigo v Atletico Madrid Asian Total Goals Preview – 1st September Saturday

Celta Vigo v Atletico Madrid – Abanca-Balaídos at 17:30 live at Eleven Sports

It was rinsed and repeat from Atletico Madrid as Antoine Greizmann scored the only goal of the game for Diego Simeone’s men as they managed to sneak a 1-0 success over city rivals Rayo Vallecano at the Wanda Metropolitano last weekend. However, it wasn’t all plain sailing.

Tipped by many to be major title challengers in 2018/19, Los Colchoneros have picked up four points from a possible six thus far having held Valencia at the Mestalla in their opening encounter. But goalkeeper Jan Oblak has been in inspirational form to keep the capital club in check.

If La Liga dreams are to be realized again, improvements are necessary from Atleti. The visitors will be without right-back Juanfran for the trip to Galicia but with Colombian international Santiago Arias waiting in the wings, Los Rojiblancos are unlikely to be significantly weakened at the back.

Simeone’s side boasts a strong record at the Estadio Balaidos, winning here in six of their last seven trips and so it’s no surprise to see Atletico odds-on to win. We can still extract a slice of value from the contest, mind.

The betting angle

Over the past two campaigns, Atleti have delivered Under 2.5 Goals profit in 26/39 (67%) of away La Liga games and a repeat is available to support at an appetizing 1.78. The visitors have kept clean sheets in half of those road trips with Los Rojiblancos resilient defensive unit conceding just 13 goals away.

The Madrid men shutout 10 of their guests last season and have silenced Celta in six of their past eight encounters across all competitions. And with the hosts having managed only five victories from their last 20 home tussles against top-half La Liga teams, it’s difficult to see the Celta making major inroads.

The Galicians are now managed by Antonio Mohamed and have made a solid start to La Liga, beating Levante 2-1 away on Monday night. the home side are also unbeaten in 12 here, including games Real Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, and Sevilla, albeit seven of those ties ended all-square.

The Vigo-based club are still waiting on the fitness of defender and summer signing David Junca but will have welcomed the return to form of Pione Sisto earlier this week. However, ultimately Los Celticos are likely to be playing out a low-scoring duel for the sixth time in seven head-to-heads with Atletico.

Asian Total Goals Betting Recommendation: Under 2.50 goals at 1.763
