Atletico Nacional v Sao Paulo Asian Handicap Preview – Thursday 14th July

Atletico Nacional v Sao Paulo – Atanasio Girardot Sports Complex at 01:45

Tonight we have the Copa Libertedores Semi final second leg between Atletico Nacional and São Paulo.

Nacional hold home advantage in this game as São Paulo fly to Bogata. The home side will hold a two goal advantage after their 0-2 victory in São Paulo last week.

Atletico Nacional are currently having a fantastic season in the Colombian top flight as they sit in second place just one point behind I.Medlin. This is exceptional considering the slog they’ve had to go through in the Copa Libertedores campaign.

Whilst their opponents on Wednesday night are on the verge of a disastrous season, São Paulo put all their eggs into one basket when it came to winning the Copa Libertedors and it now looks likely that they’ll have to settle with a mid table finish.

São Paulo did get themselves three points at the weekend however, defeating rock bottom of the table America MG comfortably winning by three goals to nil. Alan Kardec was exceptional and looked like he was back to his old self. The former Palmieras forward managed to grab himself two goals and the man of the match award.

Last weeks 1st leg will still be hurting São Paulo who dominated the first half and will feel that they really should have been in front. Maicon was then shown a red card for São Paulo in the 73rd minute and from there it was all down hill for the home side. Nacional forward M.Borja gave the Colombians the lead in the 83rd minute and then sealed his sides away victory with an 88th minute strike giving the away side a shock victory.

I expect Nacional to sit back from the whistle in this game and São Paulo will have to attack them with the hope of getting an early goal to worry the Colombians. I don’t think the home side will have much interest in attack and fully expect them to play the lone forward and pack out the midfield, São Paulo may not go through on Wednesday night but I equally can’t see them losing this fixture.

Asian Handicap Betting Recommendation: Sao Paulo +0.5 at 2.01
