Amiens v PSG Match Preview – 15th February Saturday

Amiens v PSG – Stade de la Licorne at 4:03 GMT live at BT Sport

PSG’s procession towards another Ligue 1 title continued last Sunday night as the perennial champions dispatched Lyon 4-2 at the Parc des Princes. Angel Di Maria and Kylian Mbappe both scored but it was a strike from substitute Edinson Cavani that ensured Les Parisiens picked up all three points.

Thomas Tuchel’s troops didn’t take long to take charge of the contest. Mbappe had already gone close before Di Maria’s eighth league goal of the season midway through the first-half put PSG in front.  The Argentine and Mauro Icardi almost doubled the advantage soon after, with Mbappe on-hand to net the second.

Two minutes into the second half, Marcal put through his own goal to give PSG a three-goal lead. The game looked up but Lyon found the resources to make the hosts tremble, netting twice until the table-toppers regrouped. And after Mbappe had struck the bar, Cavani settled Parisian nerves with 10 minutes to play.

Overall, It was another masterclass from the Argentine magician, Di Maria. He recently stated he wants to finish the European chapter of his career at PSG, and on this performance, the capital club should be hoping the 31-year-old has no designs on bringing it to a close any time soon.

PSG to ease to victory in Amiens

PSG boast an 11-point advantage atop of Ligue 1. Tuchel’s charges have taken top honours in all bar four of their 24 league encounters with 15 of their 20 triumphs arriving via a two-goal margin or more as the capital club continue their domestic dominance.

No European outfit enjoys such a stranglehold such as Les Parisiens. PSG boast a 76% Expected Goals (xG) ratio ranking in the French top-flight with their ratio return hitting 79% on the xG metric when only viewing opportunities arising from open play – that’s almost 20% more than their closest rival.

With that in mind, it’s hard to oppose the visitors when they head to ailing Amiens with PSG well capable of overcoming a -1.5 Asian Handicap hurdle here at 1.95. The guests average 2.25 goals per-game on their travels this term and head to an Amiens outfit that’s taken only four points from a possible 36 of late.

The hosts have been beaten in eight of 10 ties against the top-eight in 2019/20, conceding two goals or more on eight occasions. Amiens have scored more than a solitary strike just five times across the campaign and are ranking in the bottom three for Ligue 1 for a range of performance data metrics.
