Allsvenskan Asian Handicap Previews – Sunday 16th October

Only five games left of the season and things are starting to get really exciting. This round gives us a game that looks like a final as Malmö travel to IFK Norrköping. A win for the guests will probably give Malmö the title. A draw there and a win for AIK will mean that we almost have a three team race… In the bottom, things are all the same.

Elfsborg v Helsingborg

Elfsborg are about to finish one of the weakest seasons in years. But in the middle of the table it is tight and a couple of wins in the end could actually give them a spot to Europe. The fourth place is in reach, but they must start by winning here. The guests Helsingborg must focus on the upcoming playoff and maybe is a bit unfocused here

Elfsborg are normally very offensive at home and have a lot of options in the attacking positions. The break was good for the home side since they now have an almost full squad. Jebali, Frick, Prodell, Claesson, Lundevall and Gustafsson are all players that should be able to make points here.

Helsingborg have six points up to GIF Sundsvall, and it could be nine points when this game starts since Sundsvall plays Falkenberg on Saturday. The injury situation is still tough and Helsingborg doesn’t like to play on the artificial turf that Borås Arena provides.

There should be some difference in quality between these to teams and since Elfsborg actually still has a chance of the top positions and I think the motivation will be big for the home side. Helsingborg should prepare for the upcoming playoffs and with the injuries I really don’t see how Helsingborg will have a chance here.

Asian Handicap Recommendation: Elfsborg -1 @ 1.90

AIK v Östersund

AIK are in the title race again. Unfortunately for the black and yellows, it looks like it is a bit to late… Anyhow, they must keep winning to still give themselves a chance to put some pressure on IFK Norrköping and Malmö. Östersund have secured the contract and comes from a big win against Falkenberg, but what about the motivation? Östersund haven’t really got anything to play for.

AIK has a full squad and will be highly motivated here. The shape is also good and if we look at the attack – the super talent Alexander Isak and his partner Chinedu Obasi are probably the best attacking couple in the league right now. Three points is all that matters for AIK here.

Östersund won 6-1 against Falkenberg last round but I don’t really know how much it was a great performance by Östersund or a weak performance from Falkenberg. This will be a totally different game for the guests. Injury situation is pretty good, but Östersund hasn’t got anything to play for since the contract is secured.

A top motivated AIK really should win this and with the attacking players in such a great shape I think they can do it with at least two goals. Östersund is pretty good at home, but when traveling the results hasn’t impressed and AIK isn’t the team that stops attacking when they have 1-0.

Asian Handicap Recommendation: AIK -1.25 @ 2.20

Hammarby v Djurgården

Derby time in Stockholm, the last for the season and with two teams that have been disappointments if we look at the whole season. Both of the teams will go for the win, but Djurgården needs it the most since they haven’t won a derby for many years. Stadium will be sold out and both of the stands will probably be pumped with motivation.

Hammarby have been good in the autumn since the coach Nanne Bergstrand changed the formation and put more focus on the defense. About the defense, Hammarby has been solid as a rock when Boo-Wiklander and Aidoo plays together in the middle of the defense.

Djurgården have a positive trend, but with the 3-0-loss against AIK in the last derby I think we will see a more careful Djurgården here. Sure they want to win, but I don’t think they will attack with full strength. Sure, Djurgården have some injuries but starting lineup should be the same as last games.

I don’t think we will see a derby with two teams that puts offense before defense. Actually I think we will see a tactical game where both of the teams will act careful to don’t give the opponent space. Surely they have respect for each other, but in my opinion both of them lacks quality in attacking positions.

Asian Handicap Recommendation: Under 2.5 goals @ 2.19
