In 2017, Neil became part of the EFL Championship club Cardiff City on a free transfer. He made his first appearance for the camp on the opening day of 2017-2018 period and kept a clean sheet (Cardiff v Albion: 1-0). He featured in 45 matches for The Bluebirds and helped them get promoted to Premier League.
