Arturo Vidal started his football career at Colo-Colo, a Chilean football club, in 2005. He made his debut for the team in 2006 during the first leg of the Apertura Tournament finals against rivals Universidad de Chile, claiming a 2-1 victory, and the championships as well. The following season, during the 2006 Clausura Tournament, his part became more significant since he was tasked to lead Colo-Colo to their second championship in a row. Vidal notched a total of three goals in Colo-Colo’s Copa Sudamericana 2006 season. His impressive form during those performances caught the attention of scouts across various European clubs.
The 2007 Apertura Tournament was Vidal’s last season with Colo-Colo before he signed with German football club, Bayer Leverkusen in a four-year spell. He was part of the starting players during the first half of the season’s games, scoring his first goal for the team in just three games into his Bayer career. In 2011, Vidal signed a five-year contract with Serie A club Juventus. He made his striking debut during the opening league game of the season against Parma, substituting for Alessandro Del Piero in the second-half of the game. Vidal started to play in a more progressive role during his fourth season with the club, being deployed as an attacking midfielder. In 2015, he was placed at the eighth spot in the UEFA Best Player in Europe award.
In 2015, the Chilean national returned to the Bundesliga division, signing with Bayern Munich in a four-year contract. He made his debut for the team just four days later in the 2015 DFL-Supercup against WfL Wolfsburg as a substitute for Thiago Alcantara. He also scored two goals during the first and second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals draw against S.L. Benefica, securing the semi-final spot for Bayern Munich.
The following season, Vidal scored the first goal in a 2-0 victory in a match against their rival Borussia Dortmund in the 2016 DFL-Supercup. He played an integral part during the game of the season, helping Bayen secure a 4-1 victory against SC Freiburg that guaranteed they went on a whole season without a loss since 2008. In his last season with Bayern Munich, Vidal suffered a knee injury which required arthroscopic surgery.
